Despite his insistence that Wade Phillips would finish out the season as Cowboys coach, last Sunday night's 45-7 embarrassment at the hands of the Packers was simply too much for Jerry Jones to bear.

On Monday, the Cowboys owner finally pulled the string on Phillips, firing the beleaguered coach after the telling national TV loss dropped America's Team to 1-7.
