United Notebook: Power Ranking Update

After going 2-2-2 in August, D.C. United find themselves entering September with work left to do if the club is to break a four-year postseason hex.  Here, we take a look at some nationwide MLS power rankings to see how the Black-and-Red stack up according to the national media.

United Soccer Club kicks off Fall campaign

D.C. United and its non-profit arm, United for D.C., today announced the kick-off of the Fall session of United Soccer Club. Sponsored by the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Volkswagen, Gallup Government and The Department of Health, the program is solely managed by foundation staff and remains the most comprehensive community development initiative delivered by any of the Mid-Atlantic regions professional sports teams. The signature initiative was also a key factor in United for D.C. earning the coveted President?s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Community Leadership Award in May.

King undergoes successful surgery

D.C. United announced today that midfielder Stephen King was diagnosed with a congenital inguinal hernia and referred for immediate surgery by Dr. Marcelo Kuperschmit at Virginia Hospital Center today.

The University of Maryland product has played in seven games (one start) throughout the 2012 campaign logging 202 minutes and tallying an assist for the Black-and-Red.
