Signed in late 2010, the Brazilian midfielder made three League appearances, registering 43 minutes for United in MLS competition during his rookie campaign. The 19-year-old suffered an ankle injury during the 2011 preseason that kept him on the disabled list for most of the current campaign.

Rookie forward Blake Brettshchneider has brought a youthful presence to a Black-and-Red attack comprised of veterans like Charlie Davies and Josh Wolff. Overlooked in the January Superdraft, the University of South Carolina product joined United when the club selected him as the 21st pick in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft. Since then, Brettschneider has worked hard to prove he is an asset in MLS, eventually earning a spot in the starting eleven. The 22-year-old's coaches have been impressed with his progression in Major League Soccer.
