NEW YORK ? The Stage 2 draft of the 2011 Re-Entry Draft is set to take place on Monday at 2 pm ET. You can follow along live at MLSsoccer.com and on Twitter at @MLS.
Unlike Stage 1, teams have the opportunity to renegotiate the contract of any player chosen on Monday. Those who are not selected are free to negotiate with any of league?s 19 clubs.

Scouting done, DC coaches ready to bolster roster
WASHINGTON ? Aside from the acquisition of Robbie Russell, it?s been very quiet on the player acquisition front for D.C. United.
Don?t expect that to last too much longer, though, as the club is currently in the process of bolstering their roster after completing a handful of scouting trips early in the offseason.

Santino Quaranta announces retirement from professional soccer
D.C. United and Santino Quaranta announced today the veteran midfielder will retire from professional soccer. Having joined United in 2001, Quaranta?s playing career comes to an end after 11 MLS seasons.

It?s out with the old and in with the new as MLS heads into 2012.
A new expansion team, a new schedule, a set of new jerseys and now you can add a new official match ball to the list.
MLS and adidas on Tuesday unveiled the new adidas PRIME, which replaces the adidas Jabulani ball beginning in 2012. Designed exclusively for MLS, the adidas PRIME was created to improve on ?accuracy, consistency and performance? under all field and weather conditions, according to adidas.

Alvarez, Mendes, Borman selected in Re-Entry Draft
NEW YORK ? League veteran Arturo Alvarez is on his way out of Real Salt Lake and the New York Red Bulls lost their final link to their days as the MetroStars thanks to Stage 1 of the MLS Re-Entry Draft on Monday.
Alvarez and defenders Carlos Mendes and Danleigh Borman were the only players taken in the draft on Monday. Alvarez was selected by Chivas USA, while Borman will join the New England Revolution and Mendes heads from New York to the Columbus Crew.

Davies loan expires
When D.C. United acquired Charlie Davies on loan from French side FC Sochaux on February 15 earlier this year, the forward?s deal was set to expire on December 1. In light of that deadline, the club announced today that it will not be pursuing a permanent transfer for Davies at this time.
?D.C. United is not exercising its December 1 option to secure the permanent transfer of Charlie Davies,? said General Manager Dave Kasper. ?Conversations regarding Charlie?s future are ongoing.?

WASHINGTON ? In their continued effort to return to the upper echelon of MLS teams, D.C. United declined contract options for nine players on Wednesday in order to free up cap space and give the team more maneuverability for offseason roster acquisitions.
Among those nine were Clyde Simms and Santino Quaranta, two of D.C.?s longest tenured players. All will be available for next week?s Re-Entry Draft.

D.C. United set to begin 2012 MLS season on March 10
Major League Soccer announced today the schedule for First Kick Weekend 2012 presented by Dick?s Sporting Goods, marking the beginning of MLS? 17th season. D.C. United will begin the 2012 regular season at home on Saturday, March 10, with opponent and kickoff time to be determined at a later date.
