Q&A: Hamid's US debut

Last night, D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid earned his first-ever cap for the U.S. Men's National Team. The 21-year old net minder became the seventh U.S. goaltender to earn a clean sheet in his debut, as the U.S. topped Venezuela 1-0 on Ricardo Clock's stoppage time goal.

We caught up with Hamid the day after his debut to ask about the experience.

Maicon Santos acquired

D.C. United announced today the team has acquired forward Maicon Santos. The 27-year old Brazilian most recently played with FC Dallas, after originally joining MLS in 2009 as a member of Chivas USA. Per MLS and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Santos is with the team in DC and will participate in Wednesday's training session.

Emiliano Dudar acquired

D.C. United announced today the team has signed 30-year-old Emiliano Dudar. The 6-foot, 4-inch Argentine defender joins the Black-and-Red on a free transfer from BSC Young Boys of Switzerland. Per club and League policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Dudar will be available for selection pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and visa.

Danny Cruz acquired from Houston

D.C. United announced today the team has acquired midfielder Danny Cruz from the Houston Dynamo in exchange for a partial allocation. The 22-year old is originally from Petersburg, Virginia and spent three seasons with the Dynamo.

United General Manager Dave Kasper. ?He is a tenacious player who brings a lot of energy and bite to the midfield and we are thrilled to have him at United. At 22, he has enormous upside and we look forward to his contributions for years to come.?

Preseason match 1: United vs Chicago Fire

D.C. United traveled to Fort Myers, Fla. to take on the Chicago Fire at Florida Gulf Coast University in front of a sellout crowd of 1,800. The match marked the first test of the year for Ben Olsen and his players, who delivered a solid defensive performance and a clean sheet, as United tied 0-0 with the Fire.

United in Florida: Day 1

D.C. United has escaped the cold and settled in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The Black-and-Red will call Florida home until February 2.
