May 2 and 5 matches to air on CSN Plus
In conjunction with Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, the region?s premier source for multiplatform sports coverage, D.C. United today announced that United?s matches on May 2 at the San Jose Earthquakes and May 5 at Toronto FC have been moved to CSN Plus (CSN+). The Toronto FC match will be joined in progress on CSN, as well, following NHL Playoff hockey coverage. Kickoff times for the matches remain at 10:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, May 2 and 4:00 p.m. ET Saturday, May 5, respectively.

NEVER TOO EARLY
While it's easy to brush off a late April match as 'just another game', D.C. United fans should be cautious about underestimating the importance of Saturday's encounter with Houston.
Most might think it too early to start talking standings and - gasp - playoffs, but Saturday's opponents are already in that frame of mind.

Military roots run deep for D.C. United
When Perry Kitchen was away with the U.S. Olympic qualifying side earlier this year, an interesting rumor about the D.C. midfielder began to circulate through the camp. Impressed by his discipline and attention to detail, Kitchen's teammates joked that he might actually be doubling as an undercover Navy Seal. As with most rumors this one was inaccurate, but it's easy to see why such an idea might catch on.

With a valuable three points locked away thanks to Sunday's dominant performance, D.C. United returned to training on Tuesday. Here are a few notes from the late morning session.
OLYMPIC DRAW
While D.C. United trained early Tuesday morning, the Olympic soccer draw took place a half-world away at Wembley Stadium. The Black-and-Red's lone representative in London will be Andy Najar, who has said previously that he thinks his Honduran side could medal.

Top 5: D.C. United Draft Classes
In Sunday's 4-1 win over New York, all four of D.C.'s goals were scored by players originally drafted by the Black-and-Red. With that in mind, we decided to take a look back at the most successful draft classes in United history. There is no real science behind this ranking, but some loose criteria used were the player impact on the club, future career success and where the player was drafted. The list goes back to the first MLS SuperDraft in 2000.

Chris Pontius wins Player of the Week
D.C. United announced today that midfielder/forward Chris Pontius was unanimously selected by the North American Soccer Reporters as the MLS Player of the Week. Pontius is the first player in five years of voting by the North American Soccer Reporters to be a two-time unanimous selection.

Academy Update
D.C. United?s Academy teams compiled a perfect record this past weekend, as the U-18?s and U-16?s defeated FC Westchester and Albertson SC in USSDA matches.
United?s U-18 team kicked off the weekend with a 2-1 victory over FC Westchester on Saturday, April 21. Patrick Foss was United?s most influential player, converting two penalty kicks to help the Black-and-Red recover from a 0-1 deficit.

UCF Notches One of Its Best Classes

While most teams feel the success of the latest season in a year or even two years, Central Florida started cashing in on its 2010 campaign with its 2011 recruiting class.The Knights' 11 wins, Conference USA championship, Liberty Bowl win over Georgia and No. 21 ranking were enough to attract what coach George O'Leary claims is the best class in his seven seasons as the head of the program.
"I think the athleticism and the balance (make this our best class)," O'Leary said. "I think we helped out a lot of positions as far as bringing in quality players at all the positions, and I think that's what you really need to be doing."
The Knights signed 29 players, including three four-star recruits who all signed after the Feb. 2 signing date. Included among those four-star recruits were linebacker Leilon Willingham and receiver Rayshon Williams, who go to Mullen High School in Denver. Both players signed their letters of intent on Feb. 3 because a snowstorm in Denver forced Mullen to cancel classes on Feb. 2. Williams is the cousin of former UCF standout and current Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall. Marshall is also Williams' legal guardian.

Andrew Dykstra loaned to Charleston Battery
D.C. United announced today that goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra has been loaned to USL PRO side Charleston Battery until May 20, 2012. Dykstra was previously loaned to the Battery earlier in April and posted a 1-1 record while with the club, including a shutout in 180 minutes of play.
Dykstra will be available for selection in the Battery lineup immediately. During the loan, the Charleston Battery will face the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (4/27), the Antigua Barracudas (5/4), and the Rochester Rhinos (5/12).
