Austin Collie Injury Update: Colts Receiver Expected to Be OK After Concussion

Austin Collie injuryThe Colts expect wide receiver Austin Collie to be OK.

Collie, the Colts' second-year wide receiver, sustained a concussion from a helmet-to-helmet hit by Philadelphia safety Kurt Coleman in the second quarter of the Eagles' 26-24 victory over Indianapolis on Sunday, Colts coach Jim Caldwell said.

Collie lay motionless on the field for nearly 10 minutes following the play.

"He's awake, he's alert, and it's a concussion," Caldwell said. "So we wish him the very best in his recovery and I think he'll recovery quickly. He'll do OK."

Caldwell, speaking shortly after the game, said he expected Collie to accompany the Colts on the plane back to Indianapolis late Sunday night.

"You hate to see that," Colts quarterback Peyton Manning said of the play, which came with 2:33 remaining in the second quarter. "Coach Caldwell told us early on that it was a concussion, which you don't like to hear, but it is certainly better news than what everybody fears at that point. ... You hate to see that and it is tough when you lose one of your top players. Obviously our thoughts and prayers are with him."
