Bucs Hit Comfortable Road Against Cardinals; Look to Stretch Streak to Five

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are chasing their fifth straight road win, a streak dating back to Week 15 last season. That's not a bad accomplishment for a team that was 3-13 in 2009 and remains the second youngest club in the NFL.

The Bucs play at Arizona on Sunday and, considering the Cardinals quarterback problems, Tampa could be 5-2 and halfway home with their "Race to 10" objective. Ten wins, coach Raheem Morris has said, could mean a playoff berth.

The Bucs insist they play with an attitude on the road because of last season's dismal record, the scorn they receive around the league and low expectations.

They better have an extra helping of attitude because abuse is coming if they lose. Morris, the 34-year old coach, said the Bucs are the best team in the NFC. If they lose to the Cardinals (3-3) there will be some explaining to do.

The ringleader for the road show is quarterback Josh Freeman, who has already led three fourth quarter comebacks this season. Freeman, who is in just his second season, seems like a poised player and is already good enough to handle a good defense like the Cardinals on the road.

"He's courageous and clutch," Morris said.

Of course, when the competition has been better than good, like the marauding Saints or Steelers, Freeman has not done as well. Both defenses hammered the Bucs at home.

As for the road success, Freeman said Tuesday, "I think we draw closer together. Everybody feels comfortable on the road."

The Bucs better make themselves at home on the road. Four of their next five games are on the road, including a Nov. 7 tell-all in Atlanta.
