Tyler Colvin Released From Hospital

Filed under: Cubs, MLB InjuriesCubs outfielder Tyler Colvin was released from a Miami-area hospital Wednesday after spending the last few days recovering from pneumothorax, a puncture of the chest cavity, after his teammate's shattered bat struck him during the second inning of Chicago's game against the Marlins Sunday.

Colvin had X-rays on the wound, which was also sutured, and he had a tube inserted into his chest to prevent his lung from collapsing.

Though his season was ended prematurely, Colvin has, by all accounts, been in good spirits since suffering the frightening injury. On Tuesday he reached out to the teammate who swung the bat that struck him, Welington Castillo, to ensure him that he shouldn't feel bad. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
