Rays Rotation Suddenly Looking Shaky

James ShieldsFall is in the air, which means fortunes can change with one hanging curveball for teams chasing a playoff spot, or, in the case of the Yankees and Rays, a division title and home-field advantage in the Division Series, at least.

When it comes to the AL East crown, Tampa Bay has taken a major step back this week, dropping 2 1/2 games back of New York in the standings by losing the first two of a four-game set in the Bronx, ensuring that it will leave the Big Apple in second place no matter what happens during the rest of the series.

Significantly more disconcerting than the separation gained by the Yankees in the AL East, though, is the manner in which it has happened.

On consecutive nights, the Rays haven't just lost, they've watched two of their top starters get hammered.
