Rockies Beef Up Bullpen, Acquire Octavio Dotel From Dodgers

Filed under: Dodgers, Rockies, NL WestThe Rockies are pulling out the stops in their effort to stage another late run to the playoffs, and they got an assist Saturday from a division rival.

Colorado picked up veteran reliever Octavio Dotel from the Dodgers prior to Saturday's game between the two teams in Los Angeles. All Dotel had to do was walk down a Dodger Stadium corridor to join his new team, which was feeling a bit short in the bullpen.

The Rockies will be Dotel's third team this year. The Dodgers picked him up from Pittsburgh -- where he had been the closer -- on July 31. But their playoff hopes have faded away, so they didn't mind offloading him and cash to Colorado for a player to be named. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
