Post-match quotes: Vancouver Whitecaps 0 - D.C. United 0

D.C. UNITED HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

?The fight was there and at times it was pretty good too, [almost] lucky enough to get out of there with three [points]. But at this point we?ll take one on the road. The point?s big, but what I?m happy about is the way we played.?

On Eric Hassli?s challenge earlier in match:

?That?s a pretty bad challenge and that certainly would have changed the game. But it (the red card) didn?t happen and the guys hung in there.?

United Notebook: Thursday notes

Some notes from the road as United prepares for the third match of its season on Saturday night.

ROZEBOOM INJURED

After an impressive preseason run which earned him his first professional contract earlier this month, rookie midfielder Lance Rozeboom injured his left knee during practice this week.  Though United?s medical staff has not made a final diagnosis, Rozeboom will not be available for Saturday's match in Vancouver.

3,000 miles from DC, Onstad feels at home

It wasn?t long after D.C. United players and staff loaded the bus full of gear and were headed to training, that questions about Vancouver started flowing in to United assistant coach Pat Onstad.  Where did you live from here? What neighborhood is this called? Where?s a good place to eat, to grab coffee? On and on.

Olsen remains optimistic despite United's slow start

After two games played, with four goals conceded and just one scored, Ben Olsen isn?t happy with where D.C. United are at as a squad just yet. But he?s also not ready to hit the panic button this soon, and believes that his side is improving ahead of their game against the Vancouver Whitecaps this weekend.

?No one likes to lose,? Olsen told MLSsoccer.com. ?No one likes to go 0-2 at the start of the season. Realistically, we aren?t going to panic. We have played two really good teams, and we certainly weren?t at our best.?

De Rosario plays visitor in native land

As a player who thrives on the hostilities usually hurled at visiting stars, Dwayne De Rosario has made a career out of enraging road fans.  In 2011, DeRo scored six of his league-high sixteen goals away from home, leaving supporters from New York to San Jose fuming in his wake.

Woolard: 'He gave me a second chance'

After being released by the Chicago Fire in early 2010, Daniel Woolard needed a break.  Instead, he suffered a concussion while training with the now-defunct Dallas - Ft. Worth Tornadoes of the PDL.  Out of soccer, Woolard no longer needed a break.  Instead, he needed a second chance.
