After a lackluster start to the season, the defending champion Saints appear to be kicking things into gear. One week after dropping the Steelers on Sunday night, New Orleans routed the hapless Panthers in Carolina Sunday, 34-3.Carolina actually jumped out to a 3-0 lead following an early Drew Brees interception, but the Saints dominated from there. The Panthers' upset attempt was hindered dramatically by a a string of injuries, most notably to starting quarterback Matt Moore (shoulder) and starting running back Jonathan Stewart (head). Without those two in the lineup -- and already down injured RB DeAngelo Williams (foot), Carolina struggled to generate any offense.
New Orleans is now 6-3 on the year, a half-game behind Atlanta in the NFC South. Carolina fell to 1-7.
