Australian politicians are upset over the $3 million appearance fee Woods receives, which is partly funded by the government and, therefore, taxpayers. Taxpayers are said to have paid over $1.5 million of the fee, with IMG -- the tournament's owner and promoter -- paying the rest.
Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu said the public would not fund Woods' appearance at any future events.
"He's welcome here and I'm sure he'll be a great asset to the tournament, but I don't think taxpayers need to fund him in a commercial tournament," he said.
