Michigan State Stuffs Denard Robinson, Michigan in Ann Arbor

Michigan State beats Michigan and Denard RobinsonANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Even with most of the leaves still on the trees in the Great Lakes State, the Michigan State Spartans know they are going to a bowl game. The only question is which one and how important after Saturday's 34-17 victory over Michigan.

The Rose Bowl is still considered a noble quest in the Big Ten, but the Spartans might aim higher and, perhaps, dream about playing for the BCS national championship.

"We're going to be Big Ten champions,'' said Edwin Baker, who scored the first Spartans' touchdown on a 61-yard run. "We had fun out there.'' They still have six league games left, but Ohio State is not on their schedule this year.

With Coach Mark Dantonio still recovering from a heart attack but at the game, the surprising Spartans raised their record to a bowl-eligible 6-0 (and 2-0 in the Big Ten).

Michigan fell to 5-1 and 1-1. At the very least, the Spartans should improve their national profile. They began the day ranked No. 17; the Wolverines were No. 18.
