If we're going to take the award at its word, it's going to be a challenge to make a case for someone other than San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowksi as this year's Major League Soccer MVP.
The 'V' stands for 'valuable'. Not 'talented', not 'outstanding' and not 'famous'.
Wondolowski, a career bench warmer before getting the starting go-ahead from Earthquakes coach Frank Yallop this spring, scored a 17-minute hat trick in San Jose's 3-0 defeat of Chivas USA on Wednesday night.
