2010-11 Detroit Red Wings Preview: Climbing the Mountain Again

Something strange has happened this fall. The annual "are the Red Wings too old?" questions have subsided, and Detroit is the trendy pick in the Western Conference in many corners.

Well, the Red Wings certainly have not endured the kinds of offseason losses that sliced away at the champion Blackhawks. Plus, Detroit should have better health this season than last, when the team had numerous key contributors out for long stretches.

"I think we've got the potential to compete with the elite," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told FanHouse.
