LaRon Landry in Race to Avoid IR

Suspended defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth isn't the Redskin whose absence concerns Washington the most.

Strong safety LaRon Landry, who made several midseason All-Pro teams, is almost certainly going to miss a fourth straight game on Sunday against Tampa Bay because of an ailing Achilles that had him in a walking boot for two weeks and which has prevented the fourth-year man from even practicing for four weeks.

Landry has vowed to return even though the Redskins, at 5-7, have virtually been eliminated from the playoff race by losing the past two weeks to Minnesota and the New York Giants.

"I want to finish what I started," said Landry, who's still leading the fan balloting for the Pro Bowl although he was last seen getting torched by Philadelphia's DeSean Jackson for an 88-yard touchdown on the opening play on "Monday Night Football" in Week 10. "I want to be with my team and battle with those guys. Just sitting out is killing me. If I get to the Pro Bowl, of course it's a goal. But if I get there I get there."

Of course, Landry's Achilles is also killing him, but he's not worried about rupturing it if he returns and then messing up his 2011 season.
