Darren McFadden Among Injured Raiders Ruled Out vs. Chargers

The Raiders will try to end their 13-game losing streak Sunday against the San Diego Chargers without running back Darren McFadden, who was ruled out Friday because of a hamstring injury.

McFadden, who strained his hamstring during a fourth-quarter run last Sunday against the Houston Texans, was among seven injured Raiders declared out of the game. The absence of McFadden, ranked second in the NFL in total yards from scrimmage, leaves a void in the Raiders offense that Michael Bush and Rock Cartwright will try to fill.

It does appear the Raiders will have Bruce Gradkowski at quarterback. He participated fully in Friday's practice after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday because of a shoulder injury, and the team listed him as probable.

Also declared out were running back Michael Bennett (hamstring), wide receiver Chaz Schilens (knee), guard Robert Gallery (hamstring), linebackers Travis Goethel (back) and Thomas Howard (knee), and defensive tackle John Henderson (foot).

Listed as questionable were linebackers Quentin Groves (hamstring) and Ricky Brown (hamstring), and cornerbacks Walter McFadden (hamstring) and Jeremy Ware (ankle).

Among those joining Gradkowski as probable for the game was tight end Zach Miller (hip) and cornerback Chris Johnson (ankle). Rookie linebacker Rolando McClain, who missed two days of practice this week because of a death in the family, took part fully in Friday's practice and was also listed as probable.

The injuries nothwithstanding, the Raiders hope to end the team's seven-year skid to the AFC West rival Chargers, who are coming off an impressive 41-10 victory over Arizona.

"I'm well aware of it," Raiders linebacker Sam Williams told the Contra Costa Times. "We don't like the Chargers at all. We don't like anything about them. We don't like them, so we're going to end this streak."

Raiders coach Tom Cable joined Oakland as an assistant in 2007, and has seen first hand the team's last six losses to the Chargers.
