Speaking before a college journalism class on Tuesday, Musburger accused the media of being wrong about steroids and mused on their potential to be beneficial to pros.
"I honestly have thought that the journalism youngsters out there covering sports got too deeply involved in something they didn't know too much about," Musburger told the class.
While explaining that steroids have no place in high school athletics, he said, "I think under the proper care and doctor's advice, they could be used at the professional level."
"Here's the truth about steroids: they work," he said.
