The Rays still could use another reliever or two before spring training begins, but they added an extra infielder Tuesday in Felipe Lopez. The well-traveled veteran would get $1 million if he spends the entire year in the majors and has a chance to earn an additional $1 million in incentives, according to ESPN Deportes.
Lopez will have a chance to make the Rays' roster as a backup to Evan Longoria, Reid Brignac and Sean Rodriguez. The switch-hitter spent most of 2010 with the Cardinals before they cut him loose and the Red Sox scooped him up for the last couple weeks of the season.
