Jarkko Ruutu Gives Anaheim Another Pest to Annoy Opponents

Because the Anaheim Ducks weren't already a barrel of laughs to play against, they went out on Thursday evening and added Jarkko Ruutu to a lineup that already features players like Corey Perry, George Parros and Maxim Lapierre. The Ducks acquired Ruutu from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a 2011 sixth-round pick.

Said general manager Bob Murray in a statement released by the team, "Jarkko is an effective, two-way player that we feel will help us down the stretch. He's the energetic, gritty type of addition we were looking for."

Energetic and gritty is one way to describe his play. He's also been one of the more effective "agitators" in recent years, even though he has just two goals and eights assists in 50 games this season while averaging just a little over 12 minutes of ice-time per night. He's played the past three seasons with the Senators, signing with the club as a free agent following the 2007-08 campaign, and set a career-high with 12 goals last season. He can also chip in on the penalty kill.
