Jim Caldwell: Colts Just Need to Count to 3 (Wins) to Continue Playoff Streak

INDIANAPOLIS -- All that has gone before matters little.

Jim Caldwell, in his second season as the Indianapolis Colts' coach, said Friday that's as true now as it was before a 30-28 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Thursday.

They still control their destiny in the AFC South.

And that means whatever the record and whatever the Colts' injury situation and whatever has happened already this season, the Colts must keep winning.

"It still boils down to the fact that we still control our own destiny," Caldwell said Friday, day after the Colts moved to within a game of first place in the AFC South by taking a 21-0 lead and holding off a late Tennessee rally.

"It's how we play that counts. Right now, we don't have to ask anybody for any help. I think we're in a good position in that regard."

The Colts, who entered the Titans game having lost four of five games -- the last three in succession -- can win the AFC South by winning their last three games: at home against Jacksonville (7-5), at Oakland (6-6) and at home against Tennessee (5-8). The defending AFC and AFC South champions, the Colts have won the South six of seven years and made the postseason an NFL-high eight consecutive seasons.
