Jeff Tambellini Flourishes While Playing With Hometown Canucks

After struggling to stick at two NHL waystops, Jeff Tambellini is looking right at home with his hometown team.

Since Tambellini was recalled from Manitoba of the AHL on Nov. 24, the Vancouver Canucks have won six of eight games. Meanwhile, Tambellini, a 26-year-old native of the Vancouver suburb of Pitt Meadows, B.C., has three goals in regulation time and another in a shootout victory and three assists.

"I'm just trying to make the most of this opportunity because the coaching staff has given me a chance to succeed," said Tambellini, who has five goals and four assists in 14 games with the Canucks.

He signed as a free agent with the Canucks in the offseason after playing in the New York Islanders organization during most of the past five seasons. Like Jerry Maguire with his girlfriend, the Canucks had Tambellini at hello as he signed a two-way contract for $500,000 at the NHL level.
