College Hockey Weekly: NCAA Presence Leads US World Junior Team

Each week, FanHouse takes a look at what's going on in college hockey.

From their first goal of the tournament, Team USA's World Junior entry was keyed by players who are plying their craft in college hockey.

That first goal was a wicked slapshot from the center point by Minnesota Duluth freshman defenseman Justin Faulk (pictured), giving the U.S. a 1-0 lead over Finland. Minnesota freshman Nick Bjugstad scored the overtime winner in that game on Dec. 26, then he potted the eventual game-winner in the bronze-medal win over Sweden on Jan. 5. Boston College sophomore Chris Kreider scored twice in that game, and Denver sophomore Drew Shore added the other goal.

All in all, college hockey had a good showing at the World Juniors.
