Filed under: Raiders, Titans, AFC South, AFC WestThe Tennessee Titans got big performances from two expected sources on Sunday.
But while Chris Johnson and Vince Young had big games, it was the performance of the Titans' defense in a 38-13 victory over the Oakland Raiders in the 2010 regular-season opener at LP Field in Nashville that may have the Titans feeling optimistic about the immediate future.
The Titans, after revamping the defense in the offseason, sacked the Raiders four times, forced two turnovers and dominated the first half in a one-sided victory that was all but decided by halftime.
At that time, Tennessee had allowed 106 yards offense.
"Once we jumped on them, we didn't let off," Titans safety Michael Griffin said.
Titans rookie defensive end Derrick Morgan had one of the four sacks, and while he was penalized for a low hit on the quarterback, the Titans defense generated pressure on Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell at key times throughout.
The Titans' first sack came from linebacker Will Witherspoon, whose sack/forced fumble ended an early Raiders scoring opportunity. Witherspoon, Morgan, defensive end Jason Babin and defensive end Jacob Ford each had a sack for Tennessee. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
