Pat White Signs Minor-League Deal With Kansas City Royals

Filed under: Dolphins, NFL Rumors, NFL QuarterbacksSo maybe there was something to that comment Pat White made on his Twitter account about trading in football for baseball, after all. White, who was waived last week by the Dolphins, has signed a minor-league contract with the Kansas City Royals, the team announced Friday.

Back in April before the 2010 NFL Draft, White engaged in some banter with his followers about his second season in the league and whether or not he'd be okay with switching positions to wide receiver, if the Dolphins asked him to. He responded, "Better off going back to baseball than playing WR."

Well, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano, offensive coordinator Dan Henning and general manager Jeff Ireland never did ask White to make that switch. They gave him a chance to compete with Tyler Thigpen and veteran Chad Pennington for the backup QB job behind Chad Henne, and he continued to struggle with his throws in training camp. He saw very limited action in the preseason prior to being waived last week as Miami finalized its 53-man roster. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
